Viral pink eye is caused by certain types of virus that includes Adenovirus, and Herpes virus. Adenovirus is responsible for up to 90% of Viral pink eye cases. Even COVID-19 infection can lead to pink eye.
Most viral pink eye infection starts from an infection that spreads from the nose to the eyes. It may spread to the eye if we touch the normal eye with contaminated hands. Our hands get contaminated with the virus when we rub our infected ye with the hand .

Viral pink eye is highly contagious. It is contagious for almost 10–14 days. it may take 2 to 3 weeks to heal completely.
The most common mode of spread is hand-to-eye contact. It can be either direct hand contact with the infected person’s eye with our hands. It can also spread through indirect contact by touching contaminated objects like linen, clothes, knob, etc. It does not spread by looking into others’ eyes. It can also transmit via droplets from a cough or sneeze. So, cover your nose with a tissue while coughing
