Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne illness that occurs seasonally in India. It is a viral disease caused by dengue virus. This is primarily transmitted to humans through the bites of Aedes mosquitoes.
The first sign of dengue fever
Dengue fever typically progresses through three phases
febrile (high fever) phase
critical phase(period of increased risk of complications), and
recovery phase (gradual improvement to normal)
The first phase or the fever phase is described here. Dengue fever has an incubation period of 4-10 days. That means symptoms start after a period of 4-10 days after the bite of the infected Aedes mosquito.
During the first phase of dengue fever, a sudden high-grade fever of approximately 40 C or 104 F occurs. Fever usually lasts two to seven days.
Along with fever, you may experience other symptoms like muscle pain, joint pains, facial flushing, skin erythema, headache, throat pain, pink eye, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. Nevertheless, Many people experience no signs or symptoms of dengue infection.
